When it comes to video production, many tools and techniques are required to make all the element come to life. These include camera work, lighting, and audio with lots of preproduction testing and rehearsals sessions were done to ensure that there will be adequate bandwidth, usually 5 to 10Mbps for a full 1080p HD stream and that there aren’t any roadblocks between camera and distribution platform.
Very importantly, while preparing for a live streaming section, having backups for power, connectivity and hardware are essential because the possibilities of your camera or some piece of equipment going down are high and another device might be required. With live streaming, you need to have everything set up so that if something goes down, you automatically have a failover.
Spring Forest Studio is a partner of IBM in IBM cloud video services and as such we provide live streaming services onsite from outside of your events or from our studio using hi-tech definition videos, multiple camera wireless setup with creative edits (display lower thirds, media sources like videos, picture in picture).
With the extremely low cost of camera gear and easy integration into video editing apps, multiple camera productions have become more popular than ever, and it is very much different from using single cameras.
Using multiple cameras has several advantages such;
Quick: Scenes may be shot far more quickly as there is no need for re-lighting and the set-up of alternate camera angles for the scene to be shot again from the different angle.
Efficient: This technique can save editing time as it reduces the complexity of tracking continuity issues that may crop up when the scene is reshot from the different angles.
Dynamism: When an event is filmed with multiple cameras, we will be able to choose the best footage from some angles – particularly important if the event has a lively Q&A session or fast-paced debate.
Closeup: Equipped with on-camera wireless HDMI transmitted, we can have the camera up close to the subject away from the control center. Follow-me tracking is possible while still maintaining the streaming process. This gives huge flexibility over cabled camera which cannot be moved from the planned position.
Editing: It will not be necessary to use time, and money editing as this will have been done during production using a vision mixing desk.
Also, it covers wider area coverage, is low budget friendly and facilitates a project that is time sensitive.
However, the major problems of multiple camera setups are mismatched cameras that are why we ensure that every camera is the exact model and make, or at the very least the same brand. For instance, a Canon 5D MK II and a Canon 7D will match a lot better than a 7D and a Lumix GH4 since Canon and Lumix use different firmware and color science.
Another problem that comes with using multiple cameras much More lighting is required. It will take a lot longer to light a multi-camera shoot than it would take a single camera production because more of the scene will be on the show. Also one has to consider that there are more people on set especially at corporate events and avoid placing lights in places that may cast shadows across a scene.
Here at Spring Forest Studio, our ultimate concern is to ensure your video looks amazing by using these tools and techniques. All you have to do is talk to our in-house operator about the specifics of your events.
